On March 13, 2017, the Institute of Church History together with the Bishop´s Chancellery in Schleswig and the Work Facility on the Reformation of the Northern Church in the church district of Schleswig conducted a “journey to identity” following the history of of the Reformation in Schleswig. Together with numerous multipliers from church and society they visited central places of the Reformation from Hadersleben via Flensburg, Rendsburg and Kiel to Schleswig. Thus the focus was on the Reformation as a regional event. Prof. Dr. Andreas Müller and Rev. Karin Emersleben were in charge of the organisation. The photo was taken in the large hall of Rendsburg City Hall, in which the articles of the Reformation for Schleswig and Holstein were adopted.

A very special conference was held in Thessaloniki from March 28 to 30, 2017, in which the Faculty of Theology of CAU was involved in a major capacity.

About 40 lectures about the topic of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation will be held at the Orthodox Faculty of Theology of Aristotle University. PD Dr. Philipp David, Prof. Dr. Andreas Müller, Prof. Dr. André Munzinger, PD Dr. Maike Schult and Prof. Dr. Christiane Zimmermann took part on behalf of the Faculty at Kiel. Dr. Daniel Mourkojannis and Bishop Gothard Magaard from the Protestant Lutheran Church in North Germany made their contribution to the congress. From Germany, Superior Church Council (Oberkirchenrat) PD Dr. Martin Illert, Hannover, and Prof. Dr. Volker Leppin, Tübingen, had come to give lectures. You can find the programme here

Prof. Dr. Markus Saur, Institute of Old Testament Studies and Biblical Archaeology, accepted the appointment to the professorship for exegesis and theology of the Old Testament of Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms Universität Bonn. He left CAU as of April 30.

2nd Young Scientists conference in Old Testament Studies

On 1 and 2 July the assistants of the Institute of Old Testament Studies and Biblical Archaeology organised the 2nd seminar of history and exegesis at Kiel (HeSeKiel). This is a platform for young scientists in Old Testament Studies and adjacent disciplines. Six young scientists presented their doctoral thesis projects in various stages. To underline the character of the event as a seminar for and by young scientists, invitations went out not only to those who just completed their doctoral thesis and those who were in the middle of it, but also to students, who were able to gain a direct insight into the practice of scientific work and research.
